Gurgaddi Divas Celebration: Guru Harikrishan Sahib & Guru Granth Sahib

October 15, 2024

Vahiguru ji ka Khalsa, Vahiguru ji ki Fatih!

The Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI) team joyfully joins the global Sikh community in celebrating the 20th of October, a significant day marking the Gurgaddi Divas, or Coronation Day, of Guru Harikrishan Sahib and Guru-Eternal Guru Granth Sahib.

Guru Harikrishan Sahib emerged as a guiding light during one of the most tumultuous periods in Sikh history, characterized by political oppression and betrayal within the family and the community. The revered Guru-Figure exemplified exceptional leadership in community organization and public service throughout his reign. Notably, the Guru selflessly served the people of Delhi, who were plagued by an epidemic, ultimately contracting the disease himself.

The Sikh community continued to uphold this legacy of compassionate leadership under the guidance of Guru Teghbahadar Sahib and Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. The Tenth Sovereign eventually bestowed the eternal Guruship upon the Guru Granth Sahib and the Guru Khalsa Panth.

The profound wisdom of Sabad-Guru continues to illuminate our lives, offering guidance in every facet of our existence. It presents us with a genuine opportunity to seek solutions and establish a dignified, just, and inclusive society founded upon the principles of love and compassion.

At SikhRI, our unwavering commitment remains to make Gurmat, the Guru's Way, accessible to every Sikh. We achieve this by providing educational resources that empower individuals to lead Guru-inspired lives.

We extend our heartfelt greetings and best wishes on this auspicious occasion of the Gurgaddi Divas of Guru Harikrishan Sahib and Guru Granth Sahib.
