Vahiguru ji ka Khalsa, Vahiguru ji ki Fatih!
In our pursuit of bliss, we often seek joy in transient flavors, tastes, and fleeting experiences. Throughout history, individuals, regardless of their spiritual inclinations, have yearned for this elusive state of joy. In today's world, universities offer courses on happiness, and industries thrive on providing educational tools. The universal pursuit of joy has become a marketplace where everyone seems to sell or peddle happiness.
Acknowledging this collective yearning, Guru Amardas Sahib, in the seventh stanza of Anand Sahib, reminds us:
We pause.
We reflect.
Guru Amardas Sahib's bliss is unique—distinct, perpetual, and everlasting. It surpasses the sensory pleasures of the physical body, going beyond what appeals to our eyes, ears, and tongues. This profound joy becomes apparent through immersion in the remembrance of the One, an experience that transcends intellect, emotion, and the senses, resonating throughout the entire body.
While our bodies may facilitate a specific type of joy, they are ill-equipped to convey eternal, timeless bliss. The Wisdom-Guru is the sole bestower of this eternal bliss, teaching and guiding us.
How can we encounter this bliss?
The answer lies in the revelation of bliss when the beloved Wisdom-Guru graces us, and we are open to receiving the Wisdom.
What does this "grace" signify? How does it manifest?
Grace manifests as our doubts and transgressions subside when we embody, follow, and revere the Wisdom. This transformative grace signifies the dissolution of our deepest darkness and most significant transgressions. Our minds imbibe wisdom, undergoing a metamorphosis as knowledge enters and beautifies us. The shackles of inner attachment to worldly matters disintegrate, weakening their power to sway or govern us.
How does this profound transformation unfold?
Through the Sabad, the Infinite Wisdom. As the grip of attachment weakens, the eternal Sabad adorns and beautifies us. This is the magnificence of the Wisdom-Guru.
A realization dawns upon us: what the world labels as joy, as bliss, is not “the joy, the bliss.” It is not eternal; it is temporary. It is not the joy revealed by Guru Amardas Sahib.
The question is: Are we brave enough to embark on this transformative journey of true bliss?
May the Wisdom-Guru be with us!
