Vahiguru ji ka Khalsa, Vahiguru ji ki Fatih!
The Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI) team joins the global Sikh community in celebrating 20 October as the Gurgaddi Divas, Coronation Day, of Guru Harikrishan Sahib and Guru-Eternal Guru Granth Sahib.
Guru Harikrishan Sahib led the community during one of the most uncertain times, rampant with political domination and deceit of the detractors within the family and community. The Guru-Figure graciously steered the Sikh community by setting an example in community organizing and public service during his reign. The Guru served the plague-afflicted people of Delhi so selflessly that he contracted it.
The community sustained this direction and momentum under the leadership of Guru Teghbahadar Sahib and Guru Gobind Singh Sahib before the Tenth Sovereign passed on the eternal Guruship to the Guru Granth Sahib and the Guru Khalsa Panth.
Sabad-Guru guides us in every aspect of life and provides an opportunity to genuinely seek solutions and create a dignified, just, and open society based on love and compassion.
We at SikhRI continue to strive to make Gurmat, the Guru’s Way, accessible to every Sikh by providing educational resources to lead a Guru-inspired life.
Please accept our heartfelt greetings on the Gurgaddi Divas of Guru Harikrishan Sahib and Guru Granth Sahib.
In this conversation we spoke about the Sikh context of what Guru is, “Gurgaddi” as the enthronement to the status of the Guru in Sikh tradition, and how the eternal co-Guruship came about by the Command of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib to Granth-Panth.
In a new podcast series The 12 Gurus: From 1469 to Infinity, SikhRI sheds light on the lives and meaning of Gurus in Sikhi. Were they spiritualists and reformers or Divine and Revolutionaries? What lessons can we draw from them?
An attempt to locate the Eighth Sovereign in the line of ten founder Gurus in Sikhi. Guru Nanak Sahib’s 1Force-1Ness paradigm continued in Nanak VIII’s political-spiritual realm as depicted in the Sikh writings.
