Vahiguru ji ka Khalsa, Vahiguru ji ki Fatih!

We commemorate the martyrdom of Mata Gujri ji, Sahibzade Baba Fateh Singh (6), Baba Zoravar Singh (9), along with Baba Jujhar Singh (14), Baba Ajit Singh (18), and numerous Sikhs martyred at Chamkaur in 1705.

The Sahibzade confronted the Mughal Empire’s might and withstood its threats and temptations at such young ages. It was not an ordinary deed, yet it was not a fairy tale. They were not imaginary superheroes from the comics or movies. Four young individuals, two very young, in flesh and blood, with soaring spirits exhibiting heroic character.

How is such a superhuman response even possible?

It was possible because their life centered around Nam, Identification with IkOankar, 1Force, and Sabad, Infinite Wisdom. It was possible because of consistent training and education from an early age. The children were aware of their heritage: who they were, their ideals, and what they stood for.

This soaring spirit is visible from time to time when rulers attack Sikh heritage, land, and people.

Their legacy lives on.
