Vahiguru ji ka Khalsa, Vahiguru ji ki Fatih!
Guru Arjan Sahib, in the tenth couplet of Gatha, says the narrative of the Boundless is profound; a rare being understands this. That being, abandoning the world's desires sings of the Earth-Knower in the company of the Sage-Guru.
We pause.
We reflect.
We may know this narrative intellectually or logically, but do we understand it? If we understood it at the inner behavioral level, we would not be living in duality, separation from IkOankar, the Earth-Knower. We may think we can surround ourselves with people who can fix behaviors without effort. Is that plausible? Or are we misleading ourselves?
What do we need to do?
We need to align with the Earth-Knower and become like the Earth-Knower so that we become unaffected by whatever ailments come our way.
How do we do this?
By living in remembrance of IkOankar, the creative force that permeates the universe, and by rising above the distractions of material things and transitory relationships. By living our lives guided by the Wisdom in the company of the virtuous ones.
Is it difficult to do?
Living in remembrance is a practice that needs cultivation. It happens with great effort, great concentration, and great mindfulness. This change is difficult because the mind is stubborn, entangled, unable to listen, and unable to give up its desires, lust, and greed. This vast and profound narrative is difficult to understand, and only a rare one understands—change needs to happen.
Will we do the hard work of giving up our worldly desires to understand the vast narrative of the Boundless One?
May we yearn to understand the narrative.
May the Wisdom-Guru guide us!
