About the speaker:
Rena Heer is a seasoned storyteller and a former broadcast journalist. She spent over a decade with CTV News - reporting, producing and anchoring live broadcasts seen on CTV News Channel, CTV Toronto, CP24 and CTV Vancouver. Rena reported on the Jian Ghomeshi trial, the Const. James Forcillo trial and the life and death of Rob Ford as well as municipal, provincial and federal elections and issues. Rena has interviewed Prime Minster Stephen Harper, then Liberal leader Justin Trudeau, Premiers and Mayors in Ontario. As a communications professional, Rena continues to craft and relay stories for a multitude of audiences across various platforms - from traditional broadcasts to live formats and social media channels. Rena provides strategic communications counsel, leads integrated communications plans, manages media relations and supports and oversees the government relations activities for various clients.
Harinder Singh is an educator, thinker, and activist who is deeply in love with 1Force, the Oneness that radiates in all. Love and Justice symbiotic paradigm propels him to leverage public awareness for social change. He currently serves as the Senior Fellow, Research & Policy, at the Sikh Research Institute. Mr. Singh co-founded the Panjab Digital Library and the Sikh Research Institute. He has served on the boards of the National Conference on Community and Justice, The Fellowship of Activists to Embrace Humanity, The Nanakshahi Trust, among others. He is an author and sought after public speaker, raising consciousness of audience around the world. He regularly appears on radio and television programs globally. He also consults on curriculums, exhibitions, and films. He holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering, MS in Engineering Management, and MPhil in Guru Granth Sahib. Some of his publications include: “Guru Granth Sahib: Its Language & Grammar,” “Guru Gobind Singh Sahib & Sikhs in Bihar,” “Love-Harp,” “Sikh Leadership: Established Ideals & Diasporic Realities,” “June 1984 Ghallughara: Lies, List, Light” and series of five articles on Trump’s effect on minorities in America and abroad.
