Sidak is a distinctive leadership development program for young adults (18-40 years old, 17-year-olds that have completed high school are considered) seeking to increase their commitment towards Sikhi. This two-week intensive immersion into Sikh culture, language, values, and community is held annually in the summer at the Khalsa Centre in British Columbia.
There are three tracks and sessions on leadership development and community building, which serve as key foundations for Sidak:
- Gurbani 101: Introduction to Guru Granth Sahib
- Sikhi 101: Introduction to Sikh History & Theology
- Sikhi 201: Religion & Revolution
As well, there are special sessions and activities throughout the program:
- Leadership Workshops & Exercises
- Interactive Divans
- Speech Competition
- Recreational Activities
- Open Mic Night
...and a lot more
Parents also have the opportunity to attend Sidak with their little ones (6-12 years old). Junior Sidak is an opportunity for the kids to get to know and interact with other children from around the world in a stimulating Sikhi learning environment.
