Join us this afternoon as our speakers discuss their "Relationship with the Guru". For the curious and open minded.

Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Bal, Professor at Humber College, and Jyoti Bedi, Sr. HR Coordinator at Technology at Loblaw Companies Ltd., will be sharing their personal journeys and how they have created and maintained a relationship with the Guru. We will discuss how the Guru has influenced & inspired and how they have incorporated the Guru's message in their lives.

Kulvir Singh, Board Chair SikhRI Canada & Seva Food Bank will be moderating this discussion.

All are welcome. You don't need to be a Sikh or know anything about Sikhi to attend.

The event will begin with a conversation between our speakers, followed by open dialogue with all of our guests. Bring all of your weird, wild and wonderful questions!

Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Bal is a Professor in the Child and Youth Care program at Humber College in Toronto. She completed her PhD in Cultural Studies from Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario, where she focused on children’s rights, education, and returned for fieldwork to her village in Punjab. She looked at the United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child and how as a universalised text it has disparate applications depending on whether a society is textually mediated or not. Bal serves on the Board of Directors of the Sikh Feminist Research Institute and Kaurs United International.

Jyoti Bedi grew up in Winnipeg where she pursued two Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Microbiology at the University of Manitoba. Her studies brought her to Toronto where her keen interest in the human resources industry led her to obtain her CHRP designation. Miss Bedi currently works as a Human Resources Professional at Loblaw Companies Ltd. Giving back to the local community has always been a passion for Jyoti. She volunteers at the Seva Food Bank, with Pink Ladoo, and the President's Choice Children's Charity.
