Guru Gobind Singh is the Truth for the seekers of truth; Guru Gobind Singh is the Sovereign of sovereigns.‍

Today, with hearts filled with reverence and joy, we celebrate the Prakash Purab (illumination day) of Sahib Guru Gobind Singh, the rider of the blue steed. The Guru is the epitome of love and excellence, nurturing within the Sikhs a refined taste for music, art, and literature and inspiring them to rise to their highest potential. Guru Gobind Singh Sahib did not just gift the dignity of life; the Guru bestowed the treasure of self-sovereignty, ensuring that the divine light of justice and truth burns eternally within and around us.

Guru Gobind Singh Sahib’s gracious earthly journey was illuminated by championing, like the previous nine Sovereign Nanaks, dignity, liberty, and justice for all. Through the Guru’s divine leadership, the Guru ensured that the Khalsa would stand as an institution of collective action inspired by love and justice.

Prof. Puran Singh beautifully captures the essence of the Guru:
“My Beloved Guru is complete, and the form is also complete. And that form is love! The Guru is the epitome of love, the Guru’s sword is the epitome of love, from the Divine ecstasy of which emerged the Khalsa. Yes, Khalsa is the image of the Guru, and its language is love!”

Guru Gobind Singh Sahib reminds us:

ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੋਂ ਸੁਨ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਭੈ ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀਓ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਓ॥
I state the truth; everyone listen! One, who has loved alone has found the Sovereign!‍

Let us celebrate Sahib Guru Gobind Singh—the embodiment of the radiant glory of Guru Nanak’s divine lineage—and let the Guru’s love and light inspire us to become the bearers of this legacy in every thought, word, and action.

ਹਮੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਸਤੋ ਹਮੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਅਸਤ ਹਮੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਅਫਜ਼ਲੋ ਅਮਜਦ ਅਸਤ ॥੨੩॥
ਹਮੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੋ ਹਮੂ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਅਸਤ ਹਮੂ ਹਰਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਅਕਰਮੋ ਅਹਿਸਨ ਅਸਤ ॥੨੪॥
ਹਮੂ ਹਸਤ ਹਰਿਰਾਇ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਦ ਆਸ਼ਕਾਰਾ ਹਮਾ ਪੁਸ਼ਤੋ ਰੂ ॥੨੫॥
ਹਮੂ ਹਰਿਕਿਸ਼ਨ ਆਮਦਾ ਸਰ-ਬੁਲੰਦ ਅਜ਼ੋ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਉਮੀਦਿ ਹਰ ਮੁਸਤਮੰਦ ॥੨੬॥
ਹਮੂ ਹਸਤ ਤੇਗਿ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਮਦ ਅਜ਼ ਨੂਰਿ ਊ ॥ ੨੭॥

Nanak is the same; Angad is the same; Amardas, the master of grace and great glory, is the same.
Ramdas is the same, Arjan is the same, and the greatest and the most virtuous Harigobind is the same.
Guru Harirai, the creator, is the same, who discerns all truth and falsehood with clarity.
Harikrishan, the supreme, is the same, from whom the wishes of every seeker are fulfilled.
Guru Teghbahadar is the same, from whose radiance Gobind Singh emerged.
