New Year (1 Cet), Guru Harirai Sahib (Gurgaddi)

March 14, 2023

14 March marks Cet 1, the first day of the new Nanakshahi calendar year 555.

Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI) extends its warm wishes to the Sikh sangat on this first day of 555 and the coronation day of Guru Harirai Sahib, the champion of environmental preservation and developing indigenous medicines.

With the start of every new year comes excitement, the anticipation of good things to come, and celebrations. The mind constantly seeks ways to stay in a state of festivity and merriment. It seeks happiness and joy perpetually. However, the excitement may fade as the days pass and life returns to its routine.

So, how do we keep the festivities alive perpetually, forever, irrespective of the outer conditions? The Guru guides us:

In the month of Chet, remember the Divine that brings immense joy.  In the company of the inspired, one learns to appreciate thru the tongue and harmonize with the Divine.
     Guru Granth Sahib, 133

To celebrate this year with Guru at the center of our lives, SikhRI has great content lined up; annotations of the Guru Granth Sahib through the project TGGSP, podcasts, courses, blogs, presentations, workshops, and lots more focused on the Guru’s message.

SikhRI wishes the Nanakshahi year 555 to be filled with bliss and bloom. May we all flourish and bask in the love of IkOankar embraced by Guru's Sabad.
