Our Root

January 4, 2022

Vahiguru ji ka Khalsa, Vahiguru ji ki Fatih!

As we enter 2022, we focus on Mul Mantar, the Root Verse. It is the opening verse of the Guru Granth Sahib that expounds on the Divine personality and attributes and serves as the nucleus of the Sikh worldview.

IkOankar, 1Force
Connect with The Force!
The entire creation has come into existence from the One Source. Sikh consciousness celebrated that One Source as IkOankar, 1Force. IkOankar is an active force that is not just the creator of the Universe but also pervading it; thus making the existence of every being Divine.

Sat Nam, Eternal-Identity
Identify with Eternal principles!
Divine existence and attributes are constant and eternal. Continuous introspection and identification with IkOankar help one become IkOankar-like.

Karta Purakh, Creative-Being
Invoke Creative Response!
IkOankar is creative (in addition to its transcendent character). Serving the creation is an active expression of acknowledgment of the Oneness of Creator-Creation.

Nirbhau, Fear-less
Exhibit Fearless Behavior!
Accepting the unity of creation leaves no room for “otherness.” When there is no other, the very cause of fear is obliterated. Fearlessness is both politically and spiritually.

Nirvair, Enemy-less
See No Enemy!
In the Sikh worldview, there is no stranger or enemy. The activeness is to confront oppression without hatred or revenge.

Akal Murat, Timeless-Form
Practice Timeless Actions!
When we are in constant connection with IkOankar, we develop clarity to differentiate between temporary and permanent.

Ajuni, Un-Born
Live Beyond Consequences!
Divine existence is beyond birth and death. In Divine remembrance, break the cycle of daily births and deaths. Strengthen yourself, unshackle from all slaveries, including everyday tastes, attachments, and desires.

Saibhang, Self-Illumined
Nurture the Original Self!
Cultivate an independent self-sovereign identity that is not subservient to anyone or anything. Establish a direct connection with IkOankar, free of a mediator.

Gur Prasad, (Realized) By the Guru’s Grace
Feel the Grace!
Grace is always present. When one inculcates the qualities of Satnam thru Saibhang, the full realization of Grace is experienced.

May we feel the Grace.
May the Wisdom-Guru guide us!

Ep87 - 12 Gurus Series: Guru Gobind Singh Sahib

In a new podcast series, The 12 Gurus: From 1469 to Infinity, SikhRI sheds light on the lives and meaning of Gurus in Sikhi. Were they spiritualists and reformers or Divine and Revolutionaries? What lessons can we draw from them?

My Sovereign: Guru Gobind Singh

The Guru (perfection) dwells where the morality-ethics is beyond sins and virtues, deeds are not measured by world standards, thoughts on birth and death are not shadowed, time-movements of previous lives end,...
