Vahiguru ji ka Khalsa, Vahiguru ji ki Fatih!
O Eternal Sovereign! What is not present within Your house?
What is not under Your command?
What lies outside Your domain?
Guru Amardas Sahib poses this profound question in the third stanza of Anand Sahib—a rhetorical wonder—spoken not to seek an answer but to awaken us. Everything, seen and unseen, rests within the House of the Sovereign. The ones adorned with the praise of the Sovereign experience Nam—the eternal Identification with the One, the ceaseless connection. In their hearts, the Sabad, the Infinite Wisdom, reverberates not merely as words but as an eternal echo, a melody waiting to be felt, lived, and sung.
Imagine hearing the Sabad early in the morning—the world hushed, the heart tender. The words rise not just in sound, but in sensation. Like the soft rustle of leaves in a wind you cannot see, quiet yet undeniable. This is how Nam settles in.
But who can truly carry this tune?
Only those whose minds dwell in Nam, whose being aligns with the wisdom of the One. This is not an intellectual exercise. It is a surrender, an embrace. When the Sovereign bestows this gift, the mind does not just listen—it sings. It joins the chorus of the Infinite.
A Conversation with the Sovereign
“Sahib”—the Sovereign. Guru Amardas Sahib is conversing with the One who extends beyond time, space, and limits. We pause. We absorb. Imagine witnessing this exchange. Imagine talking with the Sovereign yourself.
What would you ask?
From the House that lacks nothing, what would your heart seek?
Would it be Nam—the ultimate treasure?
Or would it be success, validation, or material gain?
A question only we can answer. However, the Guru offers a glimpse: those who find Nam find joy. Not fleeting pleasure, not momentary satisfaction, but bliss. The kind that adorns the mind in divine felicitation. The kind that echoes through the Sabad and settles into the very core of one’s being.
Do we truly yearn for this, Nam?
Who are the sahibs that we call upon?
Are they true benefactors, distributors of endless gifts?
And the most pressing question—does their house hold Nam?
Or is our yearning misplaced, our seeking directed elsewhere?
May the Wisdom-Guru be with us!
