Annual Report – 2009

January 1, 2010

Our unique programming is designed for Sikhs of all ages and stages of the life journey. Global awareness events encourage education about and acceptance of Sikh values by the larger civil society.

Greetings in this Nanakshahi year 542 and thank you for your interest and support of the Sikh Research Institute. In the past year, we at SikhRI have been excited and invigorated in our continued growth and progress as an organization. We launched a new initiative based on popular request to take Sikhi education to the next level: the Sikh Educators Network. We also added more frequent programming in Canada, securing coordinators for both eastern and western Canada, as well as furthering involvement in the UK and India. We were proud to partner with Sikh and non-Sikh organizations on high-impact programming throughout 2009, while our Liv team continued to develop and present a wide variety of webinar topics on a consistent basis. These areas of growth will allow SikhRI to regularly reach a larger North American and global audience with timely and relevant focus in 2010.

Financially, 2009 was certainly not an easy year for nonprofits anywhere. As the global economy continues to present challenges and uncertainties, SikhRI is grateful to those donors who offer their invaluable support. SikhRI is a mission-driven nonprofit organization and relies on donations in order to offer our high-quality, unique educational programming across North America and beyond.

We are confident that with responsible leadership, the generosity of our donors, and a firm commitment to our organization’s values, we will continue to put forth programs which enhance a global understanding of Sikhi, as well as providing educational opportunities to inspire and prepare Sikh leadership of the future.

Dr. Gurpal Singh Bhuller, Chair, Board of Directors
