In commemoration of the anniversary of Guru Arjan Sahib’s martyrdom, Sikh Research Institute is revealing its second online course: Mul Mantar. The team at SikhRI is honored to celebrate his wisdom by strengthening the community’s access to education.
Guru Arjan Sahib was a visionary leader who embodied peace, even while enduring torture. His achievements were enormous, most notably inaugurating Amritsar as a destination for Sikhs by constructing the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), compiling the Adi Granth which gave rise to the Guru Granth Sahib, and beautifully setting the verses of previous Gurus to music.
Guru Arjan Sahib’s selfless perseverance is celebrated by the sangat to honor his divine life and his many contributions to the Sikh faith. His wisdom and poetic truth lives on in the Guru Granth Sahib.
SikhRI CEO, Inni Kaur says, "Our repository of self-paced online course material will educate and inspire generations of Sikhs about their heritage, theology and history. I am very excited that sangats will be able to delve into the Mul Mantar, which defines our core values and our holistic worldview."
The Mul Mantar course material is inspired by the Sikh ideologies compiled in the Guru Granth Sahib. The SikhRI team has carefully designed this curriculum to focus on the etymology of each word appearing in the Mul Mantar. The course aims to encourage students to critically think of the different interpretations by Sikh theologians while gaining a better understanding of Sikh principles enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib.
SikhRI Chair, Inderpreet Singh shares his gratitude, “It’s our generous donors who have made this work possible. I am humbled by the financial assistance we have received to offer this course and we are looking forward to many more like this. With such incredible ongoing support we can continue connecting our community with Gurmat.”
