As spring has finally set over the northern hemisphere, I witness the earth being embraced by the sun and can’t wait to behold the results of their love. Gratitude flows as I think of Guru Nanak Sahib, whose gift of Light and Love continues to transform the hearts and minds of seekers all around. That’s why, as you know, SikhRI is dedicating 2019 to celebrating Nanakshahi 550.

We continue to publish new online courses, all of which are available for free now. Our latest release covers Japu Sahib, the opening Bani (revelation) of the Guru Granth Sahib. The Bani is practically a firsthand account of Guru experiencing Truth and is considered a fundamental pathway into the Guru Granth Sahib and its worldview.

To help us reflect on our work and present you with a more personal understanding of Sabads, our researcher Jasleen Kaur has started a monthly series sharing her own perception of the Sabad of the Week offerings.

The Sabad of the Month series itself is going strong, with new transcreations being released regularly on our podcast The Sikh Cast. Besides, the podcast now offers children stories too. For example, this episode on Lessons in Equality. Have a listen and subscribe on iTunes, Spotify, or PodBean.

Our speakers continue to be active in communities worldwide. In the first quarter of this year, Dr. Jaswant Singh, Harinder Singh, and I gave 8 presentations in India, Pakistan, UAE, USA, and Canada.

At the beginning of February, Professor Mohanbir Singh Sawhney hosted SikhRI’s inaugural Charter Member Summit at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. During an intense but uplifting 24 hours, the group from around North America gathered to explore the future of SikhRI.

On the weekend of March 23–24, SikhRI also had its annual Board meeting, an energizing gathering of truly committed individuals. Our Annual SikhRI Report for 2018 is available now.

Currently, the SikhRI Board is undergoing change as two members are retiring from their term: Baljinder Kaur who has been a Board member for more than 10 years and Jotinder Singh Mann whose term was six years. We are deeply grateful for their invaluable services to SikhRI.
