Q4 Community Update 2018 – SikhRI - 17th December 2018

December 17, 2018

Vahiguru ji ka Khalsa, Vahiguru ji ki Fatih!

As January is about to envelop us in its snow-white embrace, for me it would mark three years since I became the CEO of SikhRI. Today I found myself reflecting on my contributions to our community and the influence our community has had on me in return.

I accepted the CEO role because I wanted to serve my love. This is something that has and always will drive the work that I do. For these past three years, I have been blessed to immerse myself in Sikh thought and share my learnings with the world. This has given me the fortune of immense personal growth that will forever be ongoing. Of course, it didn’t happen without challenges along the way, which I tried to overcome with love and grace. If you are inclined to think otherwise, please accept my sincere apologies.

You’ve sent me a lot of positive feedback regarding my community updates, saying that my love vibrates through them and that they are personal and heartfelt. The truth of the matter is that when I sit down to write them I imagine us having a conversation sitting right across from each other. Therefore, every letter becomes a love letter. I feel that doing otherwise would not convey the honesty I seek.

Reading over my previous updates, I noticed that I often focus on the new projects we are about to launch. This time, I’d like to ask you to focus on something we’ve been improving and adding to all along — please visit our website SikhRI.org and spend a little bit of time exploring the sections you rarely visit. Over the years, we’ve created a true well of knowledge, utilizing a variety of mediums. Delve into Sikh history, Sabad, the fragrance of Bhai Vir Singh, the lives of 12 Gurus, and so much more.

Here are some recent comments from our readers:

“Your website silenced me. And, I am an atheist.”
“SikhRI.org is a treasure.”

I have to say that most of what we create is done by our wonderful team that is committed to spreading the message of Sikhi and changing lives as a result, touching people in their moments of question and doubt, like a beacon of light that guides them out of darkness.

As all of us at SikhRI have a lot on our to-do lists like I’m sure most of you do.  It can be easy to move through the day with a task-oriented focus. But it’s crucial to never lose sight of why we are doing this work, asking ourselves why is it important to us, our community, and the world at large.

It’s every SikhRI team member contributing to our cause that gives my work purpose. I want to thank them for being a part of bringing light into my life and making the world shine a little brighter.

Finally, I want to mention the future. First of all, as of November 2018, all our online courses became free ahead of our year-long celebration of #Nanakshahi550.

Second, if you are interested in our exact plan for next year, you are more than welcome to dive into the 2019 presentation we gave to our supporters just last month. Spoiler: we will be putting a lot of effort into the programs for children, youth, and adults with the focus on Guru Nanak Sahib.

Third, every one of you has the opportunity to contribute to our cause and make our #Nanakshahi550 celebrations throughout 2019 as glorious as they can be. And please don’t hesitate to send any feedback or suggestions you have to me directly at inni.kaur@sikhri.org.

With love,

Inni Kaur
