The Sikh Research Institute is excited to announce the release of their new children’s book. Thank You, Vahiguru is a bilingual story, spoken from the mouth of a mother introducing her newborn baby to her eldest child.
Thank You, Vahiguru offers parents guidance in introducing the new baby to their big brother or sister, and also explains the Sikh naming ceremony. This book is educational both culturally, and functionally, providing the perfect balance of elements.
Sardarni Pushpinder Kaur, Principal, Khalsa School, San Jose, CA writes, "I opened the book this evening. And what a sight it was.The colorful cover was from another planet! The little Sikh boy on the cover tugged at my heart......Inside illustrations are artistic, yet very realistic. I love the picture of the Mom working with yarn, a disappearing art......The description of the naming ceremony adds a nice touch to teaching even the young parents about the significance of this event......This book will make a great gift to second time parents and grandparents expecting a second grand baby."
Thank You, Vahiguru boasts 40 easy to read beautifully illustrated pages. The book also includes a list of important keywords in Panjabi (with English translations), and information about the Sikh naming ceremony.
“SikhRI is committed to publishing children’s literature to connect families with the wisdom treasured in Guru Granth Sahib. Thank You,Vahiguru aims to enlarge celebration of a child’s birth with traditions grounded in Sikhi. Inni Kaur’s gifted articulation really sparks the next generation,” remarked Harinder Singh, SikhRI’s CEO.
