Dr. Harsohena Kaur, Advisor at Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI), reflects on the significance of Vaisakhi in 1699 as a call to commitment.

“I think the Vaisakhi of 1699 was just such a call to commitment. We were asked to live and act, and do with courage and compassion, and do the right thing, and give of ourselves in service. Perhaps, if we can just begin with service and step out of the zone of our own preoccupation, we might realize just how much real suffering there is in the world and how fortunate we are in our every day and every moment for the myriad blessings in our life.”
