Countdown to Vaisakhi 2024: Dr. Jaswant Singh

Dr. Jaswant Singh, Director of Gurbani Research at Sikh Research Institute (SikhRI), reflects on the sixth stanza of Guru Nanak Sahib’s 'Barah Maha' in rag Tukhari: Vaisakh bhala sakha ves kare. This stanza delves into the pleasant month of Vaisakh (mid-April to mid-May), when all vegetation is blooming.

“If our surat (consciousness) gets joined with Sabad, it gets immersed in Sabad and becomes the 'chela' follower of Sabad, and the mind gets convinced and satisfied with the Sabad, then we can also experience the Divine within our heart. We can also bloom and feel the bliss in our lives. That will be a true celebration of Vaisakhi."
