In this composition, Guru Amardas Sahib emphasizes that IkOankar (the Divine) is the Creator of the entire creation. It illustrates how beings attached to transient things and relationships remain trapped in the cycle of birth and death. Those who remember and enshrine the eternal Wisdom (Guru) within their hearts recognize IkOankar as the cause of all that unfolds in the world. For them, IkOankar becomes a shield against vices. Guided by the Wisdom, they transcend the cycle of birth and death and free themselves from worldly sufferings.
