Sabad is Infinite; we are very finite. This is our understanding at the moment, which was different yesterday and may evolve tomorrow, as we deepen our relationship with the Sabad.

This Sabad, composed by Guru Arjan Sahib, unfolds in the musical essence of Rag Sorath, celebrated for its simplicity and sweetness. Sorath, a serious rag steeped in the mood of detachment, proves remarkably fitting for expressing devotional love (bhakti-bhav).

The verses reveal profound truths, drawing parallels to elemental components of existence. Each plant embodies fire, and every drop of milk carries clarified butter. The Light persists in life's highs and lows, underscoring the omnipresence of 'The One' within every heart as the Master-Illusionist.

The Charmer-Divine permeates all beings, be it in water or on land. A call to reflect upon this pervasive presence encourages a deeper grasp of the Divine's omnipresence. The Eternal Guru dispels doubts, affirming that 'The One' not only resides and permeates all but also transcends the illusion that binds.

Guided by Guru Arjan Sahib's composition, the seeker is led to recognize the Divine in every facet of existence, nurturing a sense of detachment and devotion.

All vegetation contains fire; all milk contains clarified butter.
In high and low, the Light abides, in every being’s heart is Master-Illusionist. 1.

O! True Congregation, in each and every heart abides "The One."
Charmer-Divine permeates all beings in water and on land. 1. Reflect.

Nanak sings the glory of Virtuous-Treasure, Eternal Guru dispelled doubts:
‘The One’ resides and permeates in all and is beyond illusion. 2

About Sabad of the Week

We are finite; our understanding is finite. Our understanding was different yesterday and may evolve tomorrow as we deepen our relationship with the Sabad. In this trans-creation, we have chosen to keep the repeating words in the Sabad same. We aspire to learn and retain the Divine attribute used in the original Sabad and avoid terms like God or Lord.
