In the vibrant melody of Rag Bilaval, Guru Arjan Sahib's Sabad resonates with themes of divine protection, grace, and spiritual sustenance. Bilaval, known for its uplifting mood, provides a fitting backdrop for this expression of profound faith and devotion.

The Sabad opens with a powerful assertion of the sanctuary provided by the Transcendent. The harsh winds of suffering and turmoil do not disturb the devotee in this divine refuge. The presence of the Charmer-Divine surrounds the seeker on all sides, offering solace and protection from pain and adversity.

The Sabad continues with gratitude towards the Perfect Eternal-Guru, who bestowed the divine medicine of Nam to establish a profound connection with the Ultimate Reality. Through the Guru's grace, the devotee finds sustenance and strength to endure life's trials and tribulations.

The Sabad concludes with a reflection on the profound impact of divine protection and grace. The Protector, symbolizing the Divine, shields the devotee from all afflictions and ailments, providing comfort and relief. Guru Arjan Sahib, expresses profound gratitude for the felt presence of divine support and grace in life's journey.

In Transcendent’s sanctuary, hot winds don’t touch.
O! Brother! Charmer’s periphery is on my four sides,
The pain does not touch. 1

Met the Perfect Eternal-Guru who made this possible:
Gave medicine of Charmer-Divine’s Nam1
to sustain the link to “The One.”  Reflect.

That Protector protected. All ailments eradicated.Nanak says: Grace felt. Divine support felt. 2.

About Sabad of the Week

We are finite; our understanding is finite. Our understanding was different yesterday and may evolve tomorrow as we deepen our relationship with the Sabad. In this trans-creation, we have chosen to keep the repeating words in the Sabad same. We aspire to learn and retain the Divine attribute used in the original Sabad and avoid terms like God or Lord.
